In trying to prepare for an upcoming art show, I was using acrylic paint to complete some of my work and was having problems finding suitable heavy bodied professional acrylics. Golden and Liqiutex were the only ones I found suitable until I ordered the full set from Natural Earth Pigments. These are excellent acrylics and compare quite favorably with Golden and Liquitex Professional. Highly recommended.
feels good in my hand, works well for it's intended purpose. im happy to replace my awful plastic palette knives. i happened to be buying paint and thought "might as well"
smells nice and cleans off dried on paint off my hands. im sensitive to strong scents, and this one doesnt bother me at all
im getting used to how it behaves, just like how any brand is different. I like it and will continue to use. I cant tell between this and acrylic when it dries. Im happy to be making the switch
vibrant. good feel. i wanted to try this before investing in paint powder and medium, to mix myself. i will continue to buy this paint
It's just like acrylic! The colors are stunning and mix well. Just like any brand, then are differences in texture/feel, nothing drastic, you just learn how it behaves. I love it, and will continue to buy it. im happy to replace my acrylic
it shines like no other metallic paint ive tried. I got the heavy body kind. it adds such a nice depth. if you paint it very thin with a medium, it almost looks glittery. not in a cheap or tacky way, but you can see the fine pieces of mica. I love it
Hello, I was looking for pigments, suitable for cast concrete.
Not construction concrete, but small garden items, like benches, tables, step stones, mosaics, etc., objects, imitating natural marbles.
And I was looking for such pigments in all sources.
Big-store concrete and stucco pigments are - let me say it - plain vulgar - poisonous single chemical color with no overtones, totally disharmonic in the garden like a sore in the eye, and with extreme limitations in the palette.
That lacking elegance and desire for artistic subtlety led me to NATURAL EARTH PAINT pigment collection, very satisfying in terms of
a) completeness of palette
b) choices of pigment mixing to create complex colors
c) price and delivery terms.
Of course, not all pigments are suitable for the concrete- after all, color must stay intact for a lifetime under exposure to sun, rain, snow, endless freeze-thaw cycle, but most of all - alkaline (pH 13!) chemical nature of the concrete.
After a year of severe testing, I can be very happy with ochres, siennas, ultramarines, umbers, viridian, etc., all from NATURAL EARTH.
And even more: in trials, I made hundreds of samples of concrete color mixes, some from Natural Earth pigment combinations, some from other sources. When I asked AI to optimize the palette for garden applications (object in garden must compliment nature, not suppress it), AI came with selection of 36 color combinations - great majority was sourced in NATURAL EARTH.
Thank you!
I am happy to be an affiliate with (finally!) a paint company that aligns with my values! I recently purchased the acrylik professional paint set and used them at a Plein Air paint festival! These paints exceeded my expectations. I also used the non toxic face paints at my daughter's birthday, they wiped off at the end of the night SO easily! I am more than impressed with Earth Paints!!! Thank you.
I used less dust in my clear gesso recipe than called for, as this was the first time experimenting with it. I am pleased to find that gripping power appeared to be there for oil painting.
Initially I used too much medium. Painting was still sticky after a few days even after using a heating tool. I then used much less and got a nice shiny surface. So I would say it’s a very good product, I just had to learn to use it correctly!
The easiest way I can describe my paints made with refined walnut oil is that they smell like salad instead of toxic waste. Being around commercial oil paints bothers me in a matter of minutes, but my natural earth oil paints do not bother me at all. The refined walnut oil is very good quality and mixes easily with pigments to make paint or thin already mixed paint. I am very happy with it and use it every day.
Eco-solve works great as a thinner and brush cleaner without nasty fumes. I cannot use mineral spirits because the fumes knock me out, but I can use eco-solve with no problems. I am so happy I found Natural Earth Paints because everything I have used so far works amazingly well and does not bother me in any way.
I didn't think I would ever be able to use oil paints because the fumes from commercial paints are more than I am willing to deal with. A few weeks ago my art teacher discovered Natural Earth Paints and sent me a link to check them out. After watching all the videos and purchasing pigments, oil and eco-solve I am happy to report that I love these paints. I really like being able to mix my own paints because I can make them however I want them to be, and adjusting them after they are made is super easy. I am obviously new to oil painting, but after two paintings I am very happy and looking forward to many more paintings to come.
The new gesso from Natural Earth Paint is a top-quality gesso. I had used the gesso kit before, but it is nice to have this product already expertly-prepared. I was immediately impressed when opening the jar I was not struck with the heavy ammonia smell of other gesso brands. The gesso covers canvas nicely and leaves a perfect surface for oil and acrylik paint. This gesso, like all of the Natural Earth Paint products, are a blessing to my studio and the planet. Thank you Natural Earth Paint!
I am enjoying using this solvent and not feeling ill (I do even with odorless mineral spirits) so this is a great addition to my multi-media kit, and I feel better using something that is eco-friendly.
I was given a gift certificate to Natural Earth Paint and didn't realize there were safer options. I have tried their acrylics in a tube and they work great. I'm so happy to have found this alternative. And the staff were very helpful when I had a glitch that I created with the order.
Been waiting for this natural gesso for a long time. It goes on smoothly and performs beautifully. Love it!!!
I love Natural Earth acrylics. It gives me peace of mind knowing that I am no longer dumping pollutants in the water system or inhaling toxins.
As a first-time user of this product, I have to say I’m disappointed. After about five hours, the surface of my painting is still noticeably tacky. I understand that drying time depends on factors like humidity and the thickness of the application, but I’m working in a climate-controlled studio and applied a normal, even coat with a brush.
I’d recommend doing a test before using it on an important piece, as the other mediums I regularly use dry much more quickly under the same conditions. I’m hopeful it will fully cure within the next 24 hours, but based on this first experience, I’m hesitant to use it again.
These pigmants are incredibly beautiful and rich. I've bought the entire collection at this point, and exclusively use natural earth paints for my art! Im impressed by the richness and beauty of the pimants. It's a fairly easy process to mix your own paint at home! It can get messy, and it's a little inconsistent. But once you get used to mixing your own paint, the quality is phenomenal! I also like that the consistency of the paints change a little bit. I can alter the consistency intentionally, and do some interesting techniques. The possibilities are limitless. I will forever buy from this company!
This is the healthier swap for turpentine or odorless mineral spirits. It does everything you need it to. It’s non-yellowing and archival. I have gotten rid of all the odorless mineral spirits I was using and couldn’t be happier. Health is important.
I love working with these paints. They are just like traditional acrylics, but without the toxicity. I have been looking for a better alternative for a long time. Natural Acryliks are the answer.
